Spoon must also deal with possibility of being paralyzed; he was shot in the last book. Mickey also has to deal with all the problems of being the new kid in school and on the basketball team. So when the team captain, Troy, who has been suspended for using steroids comes to him for help proving his innocence he decides to help.
As the friends try to find the missing boyfriend and help Troy things get complicated with the search to find Mickey's father who is presumed dead. They also learn more about Abeona, its history and purpose.
