It is Halloween time and Bea Cartwright along with the other Literary Ladies are reading The Legend of Sleepy Hollow in their book club. But it seems this little town has their own ghost story about Charlie "Sleepy" Harlow, a gangster that was murdered years ago. On top of that his ghost has been spotted by many including Elkhart Ghost Getters, (EGG) who have come back in hopes to get more sightings. Then one of the members turns up dead leaving Bea with a whole new mystery to solve and a friend who is the main suspect.
What great characters Kylie Logan has created with each one having lots of boldness. Everyone of them seem to have a "go get 'em" attitude from Bea wanting to not give up and find who is really responsible, to the EGG team members who are persistent about finding Harlow's ghost.
THE LEGEND OF SLEEPY HARLOW written by Kylie Logan is my first from her collection but it will not be my last. I love Bea and the rest of the Literary Ladies and I can't wait to read their next adventures!
Book Summary
It takes more than a lurid legend to scare off the League of Literary Ladies… For Halloween, the Literary Ladies have chosen to read Washington Irving’s spooky classic, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, with its infamous headless horseman. But South Bass Island has its own headless legend—of a Prohibition bootlegger named Charlie “Sleepy” Harlow.
Decapitated by rival rumrunners, Harlow appears once a year in spectral form to search for his noggin. This October, the Elkhart Ghost Getters (EGG) have returned to the island. The group claims that they have film footage of Harlow’s ghost, and are determined to get more. They’re staying at Bea Cartwright’s B and B, but it’s Kate Wilder who isn’t happy to see them after they trashed her winery last year.
When the EGG leader turns up dead, Kate becomes the prime suspect, and the other League members need to scramble to crack the case.
