Charlotte Hubbard starts us off with a heart-in-mouth opening as a young woman races in her buggy to the shelter of her Aunt Miriam's home. She's got small children with her, and a box of kittens, and she's in labour. Worse, they seem to be lost. Called A WILLOW RIDGE CHRISTMAS PAGEANT this story will definitely have you on the edge of your seat. Seth Brenneman, a hard worker, and a smart collie dog are the best hope of saving the situation.

Kelly Long writes the next piece, CHRISTMAS ON ICE MOUNTAIN, in which Matthew and Laurel have to meet secretly because their fathers fell out, living on nearby farms on Ice Mountain, Pennsylvania. Pride now keeps them apart. If the lovers get engaged the notice will be read out in church and the young people are not ready for the acrimony that would follow. The bishop is willing to marry them, but he tells them it would take a miracle for their fathers to agree.

Jennifer Beckstrand writes A PERFECT AMISH CHRISTMAS in which matchmaking grandmother Anna Helmuth wants her grandson Gideon to spend Christmas in her home with a young maid called Dorothy, instead of letting him go to Mexico. She carefully plans the party dinner, down to napkins and seating, to throw the young people together. She's not to know that Dorothy wishes she'd never laid eyes on Gideon. Dorothy would rather be anywhere else, in fact - but the Christmas Eve adventure that follows is something nobody expected.

Each of the stories includes good home baking and gorgeous quilting as the ladies enrich their homes with community spirit and good humour. The authors have each added excerpts from other books set in their Amish communities so a reader can find more tales to enjoy. This would make a lovely present for a lady in your life or a treat for yourself, and you may be inspired to begin stitching AN AMISH CHRISTMAS QUILT of your own.
