When Thaddeus Zook arrives in Pinecraft, Betsy believes love could finally come her way. Thad left the Amish culture almost 10 years ago to pursue his dream of becoming a pastry chef. After the restaurant where he worked in Ohio closed due to the owner's death, Thad decided he needed a change of venue. The owner's death was ruled a murder. Thad wasn't sure he could work there again. The Amish are not completely welcoming of Thad to Pinecraft, having reservations about him not ever being baptized into the faith because he pursued a different career. However, the more Betsy is around Thad, the more she wants to be with him. Could this even be a possibility?
Thad is not aware that cohorts of his ex-boss are looking for him because they believe he holds evidence incriminating them and a recently elected state senator. When he finds that evidence in his chef's knife case, Thad fears for his life and the life of those close to him in Pinecraft. Can he get the evidence to the police before the person tracking him gets to Thad?
A PATH MADE PLAIN is an inspirational story with a little suspense, a little romance and many questions about life. It's a story about trying to know what God's will for our life is and finding direction, about new beginnings. The characters are a varied group, all lending their voice to carry the plot in several directions. Betsy and Thad are strong, realistic and believable characters. Lynette Sowell has written a dynamic inspirational novel expressing through her characters a need for everyone to know what they believe and in whom they believe. A PATH MADE PLAIN is truly a charming story about a community that really exists near Sarasota, Florida. I'd love to visit!
Book Summary
Betsy Yoder lives with her great aunt in Sarasota’s Pinecraft neighborhood, far from her family in Ohio. Heartbroken by a man who left her—and the Order—to marry someone else, Betsy instead pours her time and energy into her bakery, offering the village of Pinecraft delicious desserts from her Amish heritage, and is content in her hard-working yet peaceful life.
Enter the formerly Amish Thaddeus Zook, a pastry chef who has moved to Pinecraft after working in restaurants among the Englisch. While Betsy nurses a hesitant heart, Thaddeus shows a similar hesitancy about rejoining an Amish community. Though neither can deny the attraction between them, Thaddeus is hiding a past that could threaten their future together. Betsy has lost one love already; dare she risk loving another who has adopt Englisch ways? Or will Thad listen to the call of the open road and move on again . . . without the love of his life?
