Kate is a seamstress. The company that she works for, design for some of the biggest stars and government women in the world. One of their biggest clients is for the First Lady; known to most people as The Wife. They are hired to make the Pink Suit that she would wear over and over. This is the President's favorite outfit on her. Because it is one of the president's favorites, she wore it on the day that he was assassinated. After the assassination, the dress would hang in the butcher shop that Kate's husband owned.

Kate and all the other workers did every thing by hand. All the sewing took hours and hours to do. Not like in today's world. Kate has never met the First Lady. However, she feels very connected to her. In fact so connected that every dress that was sewn for the first lady, Kate would make a duplicate of it for her sister.

In my opinion Nicole Mary Kelly is a writer on the historical side. Kelly did a lot of research on this book. Since I have been always interested in the Kennedy family, so THE PINK SUIT is a book that I really enjoyed. In the past I have read differerent stories on the Kennedy family but, never from this angle. Even though THE PINK SUIT is fiction, I truly believe a lot of it was true. Nicole Mary Kelly talks about how the first lady was always late; and people always were making excuses for her.

There is a lot in this book about how one company would copy another company's design and put their own label on it. I am sure that back in the early 60's this probably did happen a lot. All the companies had a way around it.

THE PINK SUIT is a great story. If you are at all interested in the Kennedy family, you will really like this book.
