I would recommend reading this series in order since there are some details in each of them that are needed to really understand what is going on. I had already read Dangerous Games, book two of the series, so I knew a little about what was going on, but still felt that if I had read book four, Hidden Agendas, the story would have clicked into place more and possibly sooner.
Navy Seal Ian Richards is the illegitimate son of the drug cartel Diego Fuentes. Having been raised by his mother, Ian devises a plan to not only seek revenge on the Diego and the terrorist Sorrell for torturing Nathan, but also for him mother, and her life of constant fear of Diego's now deceased wife Camelita. Ian's plan is to take over his father's drug cartel operation to uncover Sorrell's idenity as well as get close enough to Diego to kill him. No one knows which side Ian is on, which is exactly how this game of revenge must be played. That is until Ian comes face to face with the Chameleon.
Kira Porter is the very wealthy socialite and niece of a very powerful Washington politician. She is also an independent undercover operative for the DHS )Department of Homeland Security) known as the Chameleon. Her disguises are so good that no one has ever been able to recognize her.....with the exception of Ian Richards. Ian has always been able to recognize her in any disguise she has worn just by her body moves and the only thing that never changes, the shape of her ears. Both are aware of the attraction between them but have ignored it since the job always comes first.
As the Chameleon, Kira has infiltrated a terrorist group with ties to Sorrell. She accompanies the group to a suppose weapons deal. Unknown to her, the real objective is to kill Ian. When she recognizes Ian, she helps turn the tables on the terrorist group, and tries to escape the warehouse, Ian also recognizes her too. Instead of disappearing, Kira rents out the villa under her real identity with the intent of helping Ian. The DHS has agreed to her new mission, and asked that Kira keep Ian from killing his father or Sorrell since both are wanted for the information they can provide.
Ian wanted to keep everyone else out of this plan he has. However, before he can blink, Kira has planted herself right into the middle of it. As Ian gets closer to knowing the identity of Sorrell, the danger escalates quickly, putting Kira in danger.
Lora Leigh's KILLER SECRETS is full of nonstop action, and hot romance! I fell in love with the Durango group when I read Dangerous Games and could not wait to read about the rest of this group. Even though this is Ian and Kira's story and can be read as a stand along, I do recommend reading the others since each book in the series is not only another team members story, but also a continuation of the original mission. Lora Leigh's writing style has the reader immersed into the story before the end of the first chapter. I am a fan of Lora Leigh's so she will always be one of my go to authors for new releases.
