Conn Iggulden has taken a well -- known historical conflict and brought life to the characters fighting the battle. WARS OF THE ROSES is based around the War of the Roses, between the Yorks and the Lancasters. For the most part, the story is historically accurate and features the intrigue, battles, and dangers of court life in the 1400s. Readers will find these elements compelling, and the excitements will have readers turning page after page.

Though, most of the characters are historically correct, spymaster Derry Brewer is not. Brewer still fits into the time period, and he helps the plot weave between the two families. Some of the torture and killing scenes are a bit descriptive, and some readers may find this unpleasant. Battle scenes keep the story moving, and the characters are interesting and cleverly written. WARS OF THE ROSES is a historical fiction that is action packed and filled with adventure.
