Recovering from the recent death of her cheating husband found in his mistress's bed, Caitriona "Cait" Macloud is leaving Chicago behind and starting over. Cait is giving up her job as a journalist to go home to Scotland and the only family she has, her gran, Deydie. Upon her mother's death, her father took her to the U.S. as a small girl. Her first mistake is in not letting her crotchety old gran know in advance after finding excuses for 18 years not to visit.

Arriving in the cold Caitie finds that the house she purchased online, was just a pile of charred wood from a recent fire. Intending to use the phone at her neighbor's house, she is stunned to have the famous, gorgeous actor answer the door. Graham Buchanan, the "lost Actor" and sexiest man alive is taking refuse from his fans and tabloids by hiding away at his birthplace, Gandergow. His son Duncan and 6 year old grandson Mattie are her neighbors. As she makes plans to rebuild and become family again with her gran, she quickly becomes ensnared into the actor's family, love of Mattie, and caught up in the community quilting and Gran.

Cait develops a plan to learn all about the actor and sell an exclusive story to People magazine to re-establish her professional life. Graham has his own secrets and sorrows which she soon learns, and forces her to rethink her decision. There's also the fact that she has fallen in love with the celebrity for the man he really is. Cait risks losing it all as Graham finds her notes and uncovers her original idea to expose his whereabouts and lifestyle.

Keep your kleenex available at all times. This is truly a heart jerking tale of emotions running on high and deep sorrow and sadness. Throw a small child into the mix and you have a take you won't be able to forget. This nostalgic story got to my heart from the first page and kept me on the edge as this family strives for finding a reason to continue with life.

TO SCOTLAND WITH LOVE is an excellent tale from a very gifted author and I cannot express how deeply this affected me. A truly spectacular story.
