Dierdre Foxtrot Lancaster is an administrative assistant to an eccentric billionaire, Zelda Zoransky. What a bland title for a job that includes managing a private zoo, keeping the household on an even keel, booking last minute parties and a host of other duties. Foxtrot loves her job as chaotic as it but sometimes she needs a break.

ZZ's family allowed one friend to bury their beloved pet on the property and now there is a whole cemetery full. This is Foxtrot's escape. After a particularly bad day, she heads to the cemetery and starts seeing weird things. There is a feeling of impending doom. When someone is killed by unusual means at ZZ's latest house party, Foxtrot will jump into action.

With two odd sidekicks to aid her investigation, Foxtrot's life will never be the same. First, her two companions are the cat she owned for many years and a dog who is able to change size and shape as the occasion demands. Who knew that pets were reincarnated? Then she learns that the cemetery is a portal which allows dead pets to visit their beloved owners.

As the three of them investigate and share clues with ZZ's security staff, they will not only have to expose the killer but prevent an ectoplasmic disaster. One of the animals buried in the cemetery is out to destroy whoever it can.

The premise of this series is unusual and interesting. When the first beings are introduced, I was a little dubious about whether I would enjoy it but Ms. Lyle has done a great job of combining realities. The mystery was intriguing and the otherworldly experiences all started to seem credible. I look forward to more in this series.
