Book two in the Pine Mountain series....

Carly Di Matisse is a chef at an upscale New York City restaurant and going through a very nasty divorce. She has a great opportunity in Pine Mountain PA to run her own kitchen at a restaurant called La Dolce Vita. She knows she needs to get out of the city and lay low for awhile and the Blue Ridge Mountains is just the place to do that. GIMME SOME SUGAR is Carly's story and it is funny and heartwarming.

Carly is one hot mess and needs to get away from all the heartache of her broken marriage. Pine Mountain is just what she needs. One night during a bad storm a tree falls on the deck of the house she is renting with her romance writing friend Sloane. The next day while belting out her very loud rendition of Natural Woman by Aretha Franklin she meets Jackson, the yummy construction man! A tool belt never looked so good!

Jackson has issues of his own. His dad left when he was young after beating the hell out of his mom. Jackson's heart is closed to love as he is afraid he is just like his father. What if he turns out to be the same way as him? What if he falls in love and hurts the woman he loves just like his father did? He is afraid to test the waters which is why he has never gotten close to someone before. GIMME SOME SUGAR is also Jackson's story and what happens after he meets Carly.

These two are hilarious together and despite the way both of them are trying to ignore the attraction that they have towards each other, watching them fall in love is so funny and beautiful. Carly doesn't want another man in her life but fate has a mind of its own.

If Pine Mountain were real, I'd be on my way there right now. I can't wait to read the next book in this series. Kimberly KIncaid has a way of making you fall in love with all the characters she writes about and she pulls you right in without ever letting you go.

GIMME SOME SUGAR is a perfect love story and as with ALL of Kimberly's books - do not read while hungry. The recipes in the back had me drooling and I can't wait to try them. There is never a dull moment when Carly and Jackson are together and the situations they get into is beyond funny. Their problems are true to life and everyone can relate to them. Once I started reading, I couldn't stop! I had to read one more chapter, a few more pages and before I knew it, I was done and so in love with Jackson and Carly's story!

Book Summary

Out of the frying pan. . .and into the fire!

Desperate to escape the spotlight of her failed marriage to a fellow celebrity-chef, Carly di Matisse left New York City for a tiny town in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The restaurant she's running these days may not be chic, but in Pine Mountain she can pretend to be the tough cookie everybody knows and loves. Until she finds herself spending too much time with a way-too-hot contractor whose rugged good looks melt her like butter. . .

Jackson Carter wasn't looking for love. But he's not the kind of man to walk away from a worksite--or from a fiery beauty whose passionate nature provides some irresistible on-the-job benefits. . .

It's the perfect temporary arrangement for two ravenous commitment-phobes--except that Jackson and Carly keep coming back for seconds. . .and thirds. . .and fourths. . .
