FORGED begins near to where Forsaken, the last book of The World of Nightwalkers series, left off. Ahnvil, the Gargoyle protector of the Bodywalker king has been taken captive by his enemies. As the story begins, he escapes, but is gravely wounded. Ahnvil is found in the snow by Katrina Haynes, who takes him to her home to recuperate. Kat tends to his wounds, where she discovers that there is something very different about this large, sexy man. They spend time alone together as the snowstorm rages, and Ahnvil opens up to Kat about who and what he really is, and the world he comes from. While they wait out the storm, Kat comes into the possession of an amulet of great power, which she cannot remove from her neck. Ahnvil realizes that when he leaves, he must take Kat with him so that they can get help from the Bodywalker community.

FORGED also brings in elements of Jacquelyn Frank's Nightwalker series, in the form of the demon Jacob and his druid wife Bella. Bella has had a premonition that leads them to Kat and Ahnvil. The two couples cannot see each other, but are able to communicate by notes. Bella and Jacob follow Kat and Ahnvil back to the Bodywalker compound, where they all make a stunning discovery about the connection they share. An ancient curse has made the different factions of the Nightwalker world unaware of each other, and they must find a way to bring all the Nightwalker groups together to fight their common enemy.

FORGED is the fourth book in Jacquelyn Frank's The World of Nightwalkers series. This series is a spinoff of the Nightwalker. It is not necessary to read the Nightwalker series first, but it would be best to start The World of Nightwalkers series from the beginning. FORGED can be read as a stand-alone, but there will be some missing pieces and a lot of questions for the new reader. FORGED is, however, a very good addition to a highly entertaining paranormal series; and many of the plot threads of both series are starting to pull together in a satisfactory fashion. I recommend you go to the beginning and start with Forever to get the most out of this intriguing series.
