This most interesting read takes place in 1821 in Scottland, one historical romance I've enjoyed so much that I will read it again. I laughed and I sighed, I praised the characters actions and could not put the book down. That's when you know, the author has truly written an artistic book for memories and thoughts of past lives, loves and living during hard times. Lord Mallory had won Lucinda's beloved Scottish Estate, Bonniebroch, in a card game, but he's an Englishman and a big surprise for many of the Scott's, but a truly bigger surprise for Lord Mallory, for not only did he win the Estate, but it comes with a bethrothal to the hot red headed virgin Lucinda who will stand down for no man, (Well maybe one man!) oh and did I mention it comes with a curse too?

When Lord Mallory and Lucinda meet, there is a fire that burns deep between them and an electrical current of force so strong, they seem to melt into one. Everyone in the Castle is very much aware of the curse and do everything they can to help Lord Mallory and Lucinda come together. Lord Mallory finds out that he has only twelve nights to break the curse or no one can move forward in this life time or the next one. Lucinda must fall in love with Lord Mallory to break the curse of her own free will and she has no problem doing so, but it's getting Lord Mallory to truly believe a curse that if not broken can change the future for everyone in the castle and especially for him and Lucinda.

Some very strange things start going on in the castle and Lord Mallory cannot believe what is happening at times, but he soon accepts what is to be. Will he help to break the curse or will he walk away from the strange and scary goings on at the castle? Will he fight this curse to keep Lucinda close to his heart for a lifetime, only time will tell. I have read many of Mia Marlowe's books and she has always made me a very happy reader!! I keep going back for more of her works of art in writing!
