Riley's parents are the definition of overprotective. It's all out of love though, or so she thinks. When she finds a strange birth certificate in her baby book for a Jane Elizabeth O'Leary, she isn't so sure about her parents motives anymore. To add on to her suspense, she starts getting weird postcards, and clues keep coming at her that she doesn't understand. She has to find out just who this Jane is before it's too late.

SEE JANE RUN by Hannah Jayne is a thrilling, suspenseful young adult novel. Jayne builds up the story in this book so fabulously that I nearly found myself double-checking my own birth certificate. The reader sees everything through Riley's eyes, so as her suspicions build, so does the reader's. At first, much like Riley, I trusted the characters of the story. Then, weird pieces of a complex puzzle starting falling, and I couldn't stop reading until the very end to find out what was going on. The mysterious figures can get to you if you aren't used to reading more thriller type stories like me, but I think the story is all the better for that empathy you feel with Riley's fears, and it isn't anything inappropriate for younger teens.

J.D. is a secondary character and Riley's potential love interest. While I enjoy the space he gets in the story, he is not as developed as he could be. Every so often, there is a clue or a hint about him as a person, but it is never explored as much as it could be. It would be interesting to read a chapter or something from his point of view to know what he was thinking.

Overall, I highly admire the skill Hannah Jayne put in building up the suspense in SEE JANE RUN. If you enjoy suspenseful YA, this is one to turn to. I did like this book by the end easily enough to look for more from this author.
