In ENTWINED, young Aidan Evernight discovers that his father has betrothed him sight unseen to the 16 year old Lady Luella Moran. He balks at the prospect of being betrothed to someone he has never met, so he promptly enlists his brother Eamon's help in writing to the girl. Eamon, while pretending to be Aidan, writes to Lu and they form a friendship, which eventually leads to a closer attachment between the young couple. Even though they've never met, they feel they know each other on all levels through their letters to each other, even on the most intimate level. Aidan, in the meantime, has completely forgotten that Lu even exists.

After several years of writing letters, a tragic events forces a time for the couple to finally be married. When Lu finally arrives at the remote home of the brothers; she discovers that the Aidan she meets isn't at all like the man who has been writing to her these past years. He is coarse and wild, and totally different from the man she knows from their years of communication. To further complicate matters; Lu finds herself drawn to Aidan's brother, the enigmatic and eccentric Eamon. While Aidan gamely and clumsily attempts to court Lu, Eamon tries to hide himself away from her while she tries to get to know Aidan. Lu, however, feels compelled to be with and drawn to Eamon in ways she cannot understand. Lu herself harbors a huge secret, one which could endanger her relationship to either of the brothers.

ENTWINED is a lovely and enchanting little short story set in the offbeat world of Kristen Callihan's Darkest London series. This series is an fascinating mixture of both the Paranormal and the Historical. ENTWINED is well-written and tightly plotted, as are all the books of the series; and the story brings to life a dark and gritty tale of mysterious events and people with secrets. Although loosely tied to the series, ENTWINED can easily by read standalone as a taste of the intriguing paranormal world which author Kristen Callihan has created.
