I read the previous six books in the Men of Wolff Mountain series in preparation for reviewing A WOLFF AT HEART. At the end of book six, All Grown Up, I was at a loss. Janice Maynard had efficiently and seductively paired off the sixth and final member of the Wolff clan; where was she going with book seven? Even having read plenty of series romance, even having vast experience with identifying plot twists and formulaic but enjoyable romantic tales, even with the clues Maynard laid out in book six it took a big chunk of WOLFF AT HEART before I realized how she was tying Pierce and Nicola to the Wolff Mountain folks. I love it.
WOLFF AT HEART had me totally engrossed in the story, waiting for the next scene and to discover the decisions made by the main characters. I got a little weepy (in a good way) and read the final page with a hearty sigh of satisfaction.
Having read all seven books back to back, I have to say it was worth it. As Pierce and Nicole's journey is in large part separate from activities on the mountain, it could be read as a stand-alone book but if you did that, you would cheat yourself from a generous portion of enjoyment.
Book Summary
Realizing his entire life is a lie, Pierce Avery hires Nicola Parrish to find answers. Learning his father is not his biological parent is mind-blowing; discovering the desirable woman behind his new lawyer's professional facade puts him over the edge. But his growing passion for Nicola could be blinding him to her motives for getting him to embrace the truth of his past. His heart may be ready for more, but can he really trust her?
