TASTE THE HEAT is hands down one of the best contemporary romance novels I have ever picked up. Full of love, heat, friendship, and passion TASTE THE HEAT will have you reading until you finish.

Colby Robicheaux has just came back home to New Orleans to help her brother and sister, Cane and Sherry, save their family's Cajun restaurant shortly after her father has died. Colby is an amazing chef with a restaurant in Vegas and after losing their dad there is no one to take his spot but her. She never expected to set foot back in this town and ran away as far as she could after uncovering some dark, hurtful secrets in the past. Secrets that changed everything about Colby and the way she looks at her life and love. After running into her brother's best friend and her childhood crush, Jason, Colby has a hard time getting the steamy fireman Jason out of her head. She planned on only staying the summer, but will she be able to leave her old life behind when it comes time?

TASTE THE HEAT was a very emotion provoking book. It brought out happiness, anger, betrayal, jealousy, and sadness. I felt all of these things right along with Colby. Rachel Harris has a way of making you feel like you are personally experiencing everything that happens in TASTE THE HEAT. I cried, I laughed, and I got so nervous my stomach was in knots.

The way Rachel Harris painted the world I feel like I have actually experienced New Orleans. You get to experience the food, atmosphere, and the authentic New Orleans culture. Makes me want to pack my bags and head to Bourbon Street so I can dance to the music while eating my beignets! The setting in TASTE THE HEAT is just as important as the characters and spices up the whole novel even more. One scene with Colby and Jason when he cooks for her......HOT!!! I really enjoyed the romance of TASTE THE HEAT, while hot and passionate it was not overly done. I fell in love with the characters and knew where I wanted the story to go but I didn't feel like I got too involved with what went on with them. I would rate this as a PG-13 kind of book.

TASTE THE HEAT is not to be missed. This is a read that you will want to devour in one sitting and then will beg for more. Luckily her next book, Seven Day Fiancé, releases October 14, 2013.

Book Summary

When chef Colby Robicheaux returned home to New Orleans to save her family restaurant, the last person she expected to reconnect with was her brother's best friend and her childhood crush. As tempting as a sugar–coated beignet, Jason is one dish she can't afford to taste. Colby can't wait to leave the place where her distrust of love and commitment originated and go back to Vegas.

Fire captain Jason Landry isn't looking for love, either. Disillusioned by his past, he knows he should be focusing on finding the perfect mother for his daughter. But when he first sees Colby, all grown up and gorgeous, he can't help but be drawn to her. And when she suggests a no–strings–attached fling, Jason can't say no.

As their relationship grows more intense, Colby finds that Jason isn't as easy to leave behind as she thought. Could turning up the heat on something real be worth the possibility of getting burned?
