This love is at the center of this latest story in Winter's three part Daddy Dude Ranch series. This absolutely selfless love is what makes Alexis decide to take up the offer of a week stay with these ex-marines who have taken on a mission to help children and spouses of servicemen who have paid the ultimate price in the course of their military service. In the true sense of the matter the invite had come addressed to her daughter Christy and granddaughter Jenny but Alex was now the legal guardian and hope that this trip would be a little respite for both of them. They both needed to start getting past this enormous grief and start moving forward if possible. Alex had started seeing a man but was very aware of Jenny's reluctance to get close to him.
Alex had never married. She was a single mother to Christy and now finds herself back in the saddle so to speak having unhesitatingly become a single Nana to Jenny after Christy's passing. Her first love literally turned his back on her but Alex provided very well for her little family. She was comfortable in her relationship with a man she worked closely with but every woman is looking for more than that. Even if they are truly unaware of that personal quest.
The dude ranch had so much to offer. The personnel's goal was to simply provide an entertaining week filled with riding, fishing, hiking, camping and just good fun. Every child and parent was made to feel special and welcome. Buck was the personal host for this latest family. And Alex was certain all his attention was part of the role he played at welcoming the latest recipient of this amazing gift. Surely this handsome young man didn't have any designs on the grandmother of one of their special guests.
Time will tell but love knows no bounds.
I was so delighted to get the chance to read and review the next book in this heartwarming series. Of course each book stands alone but it's been quite a journey following the stories of these valiant retired soldiers who just keep giving. The marine's slogan is no man left behind. And Rebecca Winters has taken that an extra step including the families of these brave men and women.
Winters is a treasure and I am pretty sure this series is going to garner a whole new set of fans. She is a talented writer with a gift of gab that she infuses in her characters. Get ready to laugh and cry with the best of them.
