Alisha Bailey comes from a wealthy background and although she resides in Banff, Alberta at the moment to live out her dreams as a member of an elite search-and-rescue squad, her family still tries to reach out to her and get her to return home. They don't approve of her lifestyle choice, thinking it's more a hobby than a real career choice. However, Alisha is determined to show how hard work pays off, even if it means doing it alone.

Devon Leblanc is also a member of this elite team. When Alisha has a panic attack during one of their more extreme search-and-rescue missions, Devon is concerned that Alisha's health and safety is at risk, not to mention the safety of the team and those they are rescuing as well. Yet Alisha is keen on keeping it a secret unless she feels that it poses a real problem. As Devon and Alisha are bound together with this secret, their chemistry begins to burn white hot. It's only a matter of time before the chemistry between them explodes!

Arend delivers an exhilarating read with HIGH PASSION. Alisha struck me as someone I would love to be friends with. Though she is constantly hounded by others, she doesn't allow them to hinder her sights on what she wants. She is a very strong-willed woman and I found her character to be very admirable.

Similarly, Devon's character complemented Alisha so well. He was never pushy or demanding yet I will admit I got a kick every time his jealously slipped through. I rather liked the way the chemistry slowly built to a boiling point in this book. It felt more authentic, more true to the storyline than the first book.

Arend's writing seems to have settled down and found its niche for this series. The pacing is wonderful and the details of the search-and-rescue missions show just how much research Arend has put into her work. All of that pays off in the end. HIGH PASSION takes the Adrenaline series to new heights!
