"Gin Blanco is Back, Knives in Hand to Take on a Giant Problem"

Gin Blanco is back in the eighth installment of the Elemental Assassin series. This time she shows up at a tony high class event to help get her mind off her erstwhile boyfriend only to realize there are a few too many giants about, even for the exhibition of riches the museum has on display.

Like a good comic book run, each new book pits Gin against (almost) overwhelming odds and she always emerges victorious; at least as far as the immediate challenge is concerned. What takes these books to the next level is the combination of the underlying storylines on relationships that carry over from the previous books and the shadowy secretive opponent who is waiting to strike in a future adventure.

Although I adore reading a series in order, beginning to end, the action takes the high note here making each book a decent read in and of itself. It will still be fairly satisfying for a reader to plunge in with whichever book comes to hand and back track later, but as far as following the more subtle relationship story lines, it would be best to start with book one. I am certain you will come to love Gin and her barbeque joint as well as the family she has built around her.

Book Summary

The eighth hotly anticipated book in the Elemental Assassin series by New York Times bestselling author Jennifer Estep: it’s Gin Blanco's party—and you’ll cry if she wants you to.

Against her better judgment, Gin is coerced into attending a high society gala with the rest of Ashland's elite underworld. On display: the priceless art collection of her deceased nemesis, Mab Monroe, and an excess of crime boss swagger. While not comfortable in her fancy attire, Gin gets vastly more interested in the evening’s events when a group of thieves bursts in and tries to seize the valuable, dangerous gems. Facing a Die Hard-esque scenario in which she must free hostage partygoers while herself trapped in the museum, things get a little bit messy when the bloodshed begins. Let's just say that Gin should have chosen the red gown…
