RUN TO YOU picks up the story thread from Rachel Gibson's previous book, Rescue Me; and the main characters from that book, Sadie Hollowell and Vince Haven. After her father's death, Sadie has inherited his ranch, but does not realize until the reading of the will that she has an illegitimate sister. Vince has Blake, his buddy from his SEAL days hunt her down, with the help of his twin brother Beau Junger. The brothers find Stella Leon in Tampa, Florida; where she works as a bartender in a seedy dive. Unlike Sadie, Stella has always known about her sister; but assumes she wants no more to do with her than their father. He provided a living for Stella, but nothing more. It's up to Beau to try to talk Stella into going to Texas to meet with her sister.

Stella resists the planned meeting, as she is sure that Sadie doesn't really want to know her. After an incident with her vengeful boss and his henchmen, however; Stella needs a quick ticket out of town for her own safety, and Beau is her best bet. He delivers her to the airport for a flight, but she has a panic attack when she realizes she is afraid to meet her sister. She runs, but Beau quickly catches up to her. With flying out of the question, he is forced to take her to Texas himself. What follows is a four day road trip together, alone and in tight quarters.

The point of view in the story switches back and forth, and there is a lot of inner musings going on with both Stella and Beau. There is actually more thinking going on than actual conversation. At thirty-eight, Beau has retired from the Marines and gone into the Security and Protection business with his brother Blake. After being a player for so many years, he decides it's time to settle down. To that end, he has chosen to not have sex with a woman again until he finds the woman he plans to marry. By the time he meets Stella, he has been on the bench for eight months. For her part, Stella is a twenty-eight year old sort of virgin. She's done everything but penetration sex, and is holding that out for her one-and-only. Of course, all good plans go out the window when they are forced to spend so much time alone together.

RUN TO YOU is a good story, even if it lacks some of the sparkle of Rachel Gibson's earlier books. The reader knows that Beau is the strong silent type, and a man of few words. Stella, on the other hand, is the requisite bubbly and quirky heroine. As they spend time alone on the road together, the couple get to know each other better. This is a very enjoyable read, one sure to be appreciated by all of Gibson's fans, especially fans of the books set in Lovett, Texas.
