Claire is staring at herself, in her wedding dress, in the full length mirror at the Marin Hills golf club wondering if she is doing the right thing by marrying Chris Wade, of course she is, and besides there are 500 hundred guests out there waiting for the ceremony to begin. She is brought back to reality by a knock on the door. She is hoping that it is not her stand in bridesmaid Michelle. Her best friend Natasha is in Sierra Leone on a doctor's mission trip. She is more then surprised when she hears the voice of Chris's brother Dyaln hollering at her to open the door.

This is the last person she wanted to see. She did not like Dylan at all, she thought he was a jerk. Chris told her that Dylan never contributed any money to help out their mother and he thought her views on housewives are wrong. When she invited him in she did not expect him to stare at her. When he could finally talk, he let her know how beautiful she was. Then he drops the bombshell on her that Chris does not want to marry her and he has left. Claire can only stare at Dylan. Dylan tells her that Chris thought it would be a mistake if they went through with the wedding. Dylan tells her that his mother is taking care of telling the guests and he suggests she leave with him.

Letting Dylan handle things, she finds herself in his rental car on the way to the airport. She is trying to figure out what happened and what to do, when Dylan gives her 3 options. Go back to her apartment to confront Chris, go to the hotel and let the pity parade begin with the phones calls and text messages she has gotten or she can go to the airport with him, get on a Coast Guard helicopter back to San Diego and hide for a while and get herself together without the distractions.

After Dylan gets a call from Chris that he is also heading to the airport to go on the honeymoon, that her father paid for, she decides option 3, going to San Diego for a while is the best plan. She is glad that before they left the golf club she thought enough to change out of her wedding dress and into a beach and honeymoon appropriate sundress.

When they get to San Diego and the cab pulls up to a luxurious high rise apartment building, she sends Dylan a questioning look. The last time she visited him in San Diego he lived in a house with his other roommate, Seth. Now he has a new roommate, Aidan, and this is his apartment. Aidan is the person she saw him locked in a very passionate kiss, the night she stayed with him. She could never get that image of the two of them locked together in a dark hallway. She never got a good look at Aidan, but knew he had to be gorgeous. When they get upstairs to the apartment Aidan comes out, shirtless, and she is not disappointed by what she sees.

Over the next few days the three of them start to get comfortable with each. Aidan opens up a little to Claire about his past and family. Something that he has never done with Dylan. Her and Dylan finally hash out their dislike for each other and Dylan learns things about his mother and brother that they have been keeping from him, and Claire learns that Dylan is not the jerk she thought he was, but that Chris is. She also learns that both Dylan and Aidan are both bi-sexual. This revelation turns the dynamics of the relationship between the three of them completely around.

From here the story heats up and will have you fanning yourself to cool down. Either that or have a big glass of something cold to drink while reading, HOTTER THAN EVER. I really liked this story and read it as a stand alone. I did not realize that this was book number nine in a long running series. I did not get lost and did not feel like I was missing anything by not reading the other eight. But I can tell you I will be going back and reading them. I highly recommend reading HOTTER THAN EVER, it is fast paced, sexy and a good read.
