Siobhan Quinn was a homeless junkie known to kick some demon ass as needed. Unfortunately, she became involved with the wrong person at the wrong time, and killed someone very special to The Bride of Quiet. During the fight, a bite made Quinn a werewolf and The Bride of Quiet decided to make her a vampire as well. Cursed with being a hybrid now and no way to control her impulses, Quinn is determined to not only find a way out of this life of hell, but to find out if she was set up for failure from the beginning.

Quinn embarks on a dangerous journey through New England to find out what really happened that day when she was bitten. Along the way we meet trolls, vampires, werewolves, and humans who are all in for a big surprise If they get on Quinn's bad side. Death and destruction follow her wherever she goes. Will Quinn find her answers or will she attack the wrong vampire and end up as their next victim?

BLOOD ORANGES is an urban fantasy novel by Caitlin R. Kiernan written under her new pseudonym name, Kathleen Tierney. Gritty, violent, full of curse words, and gory scenes, this book is not for the faint of heart. Told in the first person point of view varying through flashbacks and present tense, Quinn tells you her story how she sees fit.

At one point in the book, the main character lets the reader know she is a junkie and possibly lying about everything she is telling us. This unique way of story- telling left me very frustrated at times. The story was all over the place, but somehow I did enjoy it. It was different. BLOOD ORANGES wasn't like any other urban fantasy novel that I've read.

Book Summary

"My name's Quinn. If you buy into my reputation, I'm the most notorious demon hunter in New England. But rumors of my badassery have been slightly exaggerated. Instead of having kung-fu skills and a closet full of medieval weapons, I'm an ex-junkie with a talent for being in the wrong place at the right time. Or the right place at the wrong time. Or...whatever. Wanted for crimes against inhumanity I (mostly) didn't commit, I was nearly a midnight snack for a werewolf until I was "saved" by a vampire calling itself the Bride of Quiet. Already cursed by a werewolf bite, the vamp took a pint out of me too. So now...now, well, you wouldn't think it could get worse, but you'd be dead wrong"--
