FLIRTING WITH DISASTER by Ruthie Knox

"Another strong entry in the winning 'Camelot' series..."

FLIRTING WITH DISASTER is probably the best of the Camelot series so far. Caleb Clark's sister Katie is fresh from a divorce, and home to Camelot after her ex-husband cleans out their bank account and leaves her cold. She's working for Caleb at Camelot Security as the office manager, but has her eye set on being a security agent. Sean Owens is back home in Camelot to close up his late mother's home and get it ready to sell. He's had a thing for Katie since high school, but never acted on it. His stutter, which always gets worse around Katie, prevented him from ever trying to go after her. He has been away from Katie for years, but after being back near her for just a short time, all his old feelings for her have come rushing back.

Now they are working together at Camelot Security, and are off on a field assignment for pop star Judah Pratt, who has a problem with a stalker. This stalker has been sending emails and notes to Judah, threatening to reveal some things about his past that Judah doesn't want known. Sean and Katie also find that Judah has another much more personal issue in his life to work through. The secondary story with Judah is quite interesting and a nice change of pace, but the stalker plotline kind of fizzles out at the end. The story works best when it concentrates on Sean and Katie.

As they each sort through the problems in their lives, Sean and Katie find common ground with each other, a growing rapport, and very soon growing feelings towards each other. There are some amazing sexy times in this story; and Sean and Katie are a couple that the reader can really root for. Sean is a great guy, and very easy to like from the get-go; and Katie is a down on her luck sweetheart, yet tough as nails. Katie really endears herself when Sean finally talks to her in full sentences, and she doesn't even notice his speech impediment. That kicks her character up a couple of notches for the reader.

If you like Ruthie Knox at all, you will love this one. FLIRTING WITH DISASTER is well worth the read, and is a good solid story and romance between two people the reader will really enjoy learning about. Here is another wonderful male lead to sigh over, and an everywoman the reader can identify and empathize with. There is also the trademark witty banter and the sizzling love scenes which Ruthie Knox is known for. Add to that a chance to revisit with couples from the past stories, and this book is a winner.

Book Summary

In the latest eBook original novel in RITA finalist Ruthie Knox’s scorching-hot Camelot series, a no-strings fling looks an awful lot like falling in love—or flirting with disaster.

Fresh out of a fiasco of a marriage, Katie Clark has retreated to her hometown to start over. The new Katie is sophisticated, cavalier, and hell-bent on kicking butt at her job in her brother’s security firm. But on her first assignment—digging up the truth about the stalker threatening a world-famous singer-songwriter—Katie must endure the silent treatment from a stern but sexy partner who doesn’t want her help . . . or her company.

Sean Owens knows that if he opens his mouth around Katie, she’ll instantly remember him as the geeky kid who sat behind her in high school. Silence is golden, but he can’t keep quiet forever, not with Katie stampeding through their investigation. It’s time for Sean to step up and take control of the case, and his decade-old crush. If he can break through Katie’s newfound independence, they just might find they make a perfect team—on the road, on the job, and in bed.
