Cain Aylward has given up hope on finding a mate of his own. Abandoned by his ward and rejected by a possible mate, Cain no longer cares if he lives or dies. Even after meeting Rory, someone he knows is a match to him, Cain doesn't believe someone like her could love him. When Rory binds herself to Cain, he'll stop at nothing to ensure her protection from the demons out to get her, even if it means his own death.
I have been a fan of Shannon K. Butcher's Sentinel series since the first book was released. Now at book seven with FALLING BLIND, Butcher has built an intricate world full of intriguing characters and complex mysteries. Cain has not had it easy, especially in the last book in this series, so it was great to see him get his happily ever after. Rory is strong, independent and stubborn, traits that have helped her on the streets, but make her butt heads with Cain, often.
The one thing I love about Butcher's characters is that they're not all black and white. There are plenty of grey areas within her storylines. Good characters that go bad and characters that are supposed to be bad who end up redeeming themselves in the eyes of the reader. If you haven't read any books in this series, I seriously recommend you start with the first book just because of the story threads that carry through all the books. While you would enjoy the books as a stand alone, the enjoyablility factor would be greatly enhanced by reading all the books. FALLING BLIND is another wonderful and dramatic addition to the Sentinel series and I can't wait for the next book to see what new revelations Butcher provides into this captivating world.
