Sharp and smart with the word on the lip as well as the gun on the hip, Special Agent Tara Holloway is now an experienced IRS investigator and, along with her senior partner Eddie Bardin, a smart and highly intelligent agent with a young family, they are charged with tracking down some notorious and zany tax cheaters as well as seeking out the money transfer source on some hard hitting and deadly group of international terrorists who are sending funds overseas so people can be killed and injured with their bombs and weapons.
As the search proves frustrating, life is not a bowl of peaches at work, especially after some run-ins at the airport. Meanwhile, her love life is the pits as well! Why is she hankering after Nick Pratt, her follow Special Agent at work, and why does he have to be so dang handsome and fun to be with when she is supposedly in love with Brett? Is it time for the talk? Her good friend, Alicia, has her own share of man problems as well as she makes the move-in to stay with Tara. Can they drown their problems as easily as the peach sangria goes down?
DEATH, TAXES AND PEACH SANGRIA is sure to be a smooth hit with fans of Kelly's earlier books with Tara Holloway as the IRS heroine and they will delight in getting updates on how other secondary characters, such as Lu, Christina, Alicia and Ajay are doing. As always, Kelly seems to have an inexhaustible supply of IRS humour and all her Tara Holloway book are a fun and enjoyable reads on their own. I am sure new readers will quickly become fans and seek out the earlier installments in the series.
Tara is a wonderful and witty character who is hardworking (except for her laundry aversion) and kind and generous with her family, friends and co-workers (Be sure to check out how she helps the shy and nerdy Josh on his first date), no matter how busy she is. Despite her love of cats, she is not "purr-fect" either and comes across as a warm and friendly woman you would love to have as a friend. As Lu would point out, while she is settling nicely in her job, she still makes a few mistakes and has a few things to learn yet.
So, make up a pitcher of peach sangria (recipe in book) and don't miss out on reading this latest wild and wacky book about your favourite IRS tax collectors! LOL big time!
Book Summary
When it comes to exposing tax fraud, Tara and her partner Eddie are really cleaning up. From their brilliant takedown of the disappearing "Tax Wizard" to their perfectly planned downfall of the "Deduction Diva," they've earned the respect of their peers at Criminal Investigations. Tara's looking forward to a challenge but, back at the office, everyone's looking for love. Her boss Lu "The Lobo" Lobozinski and office virgin Josh Schmidt are signing up for an online dating service, and—to Tara's dismay—so is her crush, Special Agent Nick Pratt. Tara's trying to act chill. But when she learns that her next case involves cash–funneling to terrorists, it's not just her love life that's on the rocks. It's her life, period.
