Angela Locke is being used as bait to catch a psychotic High Blood female bent on the impossible. Her only hope is to trust her life to the mysterious (and HOT) man who has been keeping secrets at the risk of her life.
Ties the Bind by Nina Bangs
Cassie has an unreasonable fear of dead bodies, so it is a HUGE measure of her friendship that she agrees to fill in for a few hours at her pal Felicity's job holding down the fort at the local funeral parlor. Every rustle and creak becomes a harbinger of zombie doom so when two live but shifty-eyed men show up she foolishly lets them in and follows them into the basement room that holds a secret that may cost her life. A scarily attractive vampire manages to help her escape, but that is only the beginning of her adventure.
In Still Darkness by Dianne Duvall
Richart d'Alençon, Immortal Guardian is having a busy but fairly normal night's work when he saves Jenna McBride, and can't get her out of his mind. Jenna, single mother of a college-aged boy is falling hard for the mysterious stranger who keeps visiting her workplace ( a big-box store).
High Stakes by Hannah Jayne
Nina LaShay, fashionista, owner of Drop Dead Clothing and vamp (in more than one meaning) is in New York competing in a designer competition when her competitors start dropping like flies. She and a hot Hawaiian photographer keep meeting in most unexpected and suspicious places with dead bodies all too near.
This is one of the best collections of novellas I've read. All are highly entertaining, and even those with ties to the author's previous series books were easy to follow, and more importantly, enthralling. They all have small touches of whimsy, ranging from the mostly serious Out of Control to the wacky High Stakes. Most impressive, despite the shortened form each read as satisfyingly as a full-length novel. The stories I found most intriguing were Ivey's Out of Control, the first hint of her new Sentinals, series and In Still Darkness by Dianne Duvall, book 3.5 in her Immortal Guardians series. Both were my first encounters with the authors' worlds but they won't be my last. The other two stories were very high quality, don't get me wrong, but something about the world building used by Ivy and Duvall connected better with my own personal taste. High Stakes is connected to Hannah Jayne's Underworld Detection Agency and Ties that Bind seems unconnected to the Nina Bangs series with which I am familiar, regardless, it was a great read. In summation, PREDATORY is worth every penny.
