BARE IT ALL by Lori Foster tells the story of Detective Reese Bareden and Alice Appleton. BARE IT ALL picks up right where Run the Risk finishes. Reese wakes up the next morning on his allusive, secretive neighbor's couch. He knows that she is shy, quiet, great with dogs; especially his rescue Cash. He wants to know all about her and her secrets.

Reese is not sure why he is so drawn to her, but he is and he is determined to find out why she seems to have this hold on him. He is not a man that lets a woman get too close and certainly not for any period of time. He keeps wondering what it is about her. Alice was first introduced to the readers as a secretary for a human trafficking operation in Trace of Fever. (I personally forgot about her.)

The chemistry that sparks, right from the start between Reese and Alice is amazing. We see it start in Run the Risk and in BARE IT ALL it explodes. The two of them have the same problems and insecurities that any new couple would have, but with the added pressure of him living with her (while his apartment is still a crime scene), and sleeping on her couch, and Alice's secret past.

When Alice asks Reese when she might be able to get her weapon back, that was used the previous day in a shooting, Reese has a lot of questions of his own for her about that weapon. Since she figured Reese snooped a little while she took Cash out to do his business. She starts to let Reese in a little at a time by showing him her stash of guns, a taser, stun guns and extra cell phones. She really wants to let him closer, but until she can figure out how much of her past she can reveal to him and how he will react she will keep him at arms length, both emotionally and physically.

Reese being the detective that he is, is starting to really wonder what has happened to Alice in the past to make her have this much protection around her. There is not one place in her apartment that she could be without having something to defend herself. He also knows that he has to tread carefully with the questions he asks and how he asks them or he will spook her away and that is the last thing he wants to do. Not so much as a detective, but as a man who wants to know a woman.

I like how Ms. Foster wrote this story between Reese, who is very much an Alpha male with his attitude and size, and Alice who in comparison is very small. I like Alice's courage and her will to carry on and try to make a difference in another women's. life. But that being said there is just something about her that I don't like and I cannot put my finger on why. The head games that Reese and Alice play with each other was something that I did not like. Over all I liked BARE IT ALL with all the twists, turns, and surprises. I did find myself wanting to see more of Rowdy and Avery, and what Dash might be up too. I hope she is planning on at least two more books in this series.
