Michael Healey, an illumicrafter, is murdered and his ghost is "imprinted" on Darcy and they are bonded until his murderer is caught. Harriette is being framed for the murder. Claiming for herself the famed black roses that are actually created by Michael's magic, her motive for murder is apparent. With a boyfriend as a halfcrafter and a sister who is a witch, Darcy has her work cut out for her in investigating the magical Elysian Fields to uncover the murder and mystery of the Witching Hour rose while keeping her life intact with the aid of all her critters. Nothing is ever as it seems and it takes Darcy to bring this to light.

This story is part of HEATHER BLAKE'S Witchcraft Mystery Series. This is the first of the series I have had the opportunity to read. This is completely magical with all the special little critters and is stuffed with all the mystery you could imagine. While a mystery, the tale is kept alive with the unusual characters throughout the story. Only a setting of Salem would be appropriate for this story. If you enjoy the world of witches and magic, you will love the way it comes complete with mystery and suspense.
