Louise Allen has written a stand out regency romance. Though the regency theme is not unique, the plot of TARNISHED AMONGST THE TON is very creative, and established a unique setting for enjoyable characters. The hero of TARNISHED AMONGST THE TON, Ashe, is not the expected regency hero. He is handsome, slightly arrogant, and self - assured, but he is not a hero who has lived his life in English society, and the usual rules don't apply to him. Ashe also, has a surprising past, and unusual vulnerability. Likewise the heroine, Phyllida, has a different past. She also has a great sense of independence and a caring heart. The dialogue between characters is witty, and characters such as Gregory and Harriet made TARNISHED AMONGST THE TON even more agreeable. Readers who enjoy regency historical romances will like reading TARNISHED AMONGST THE TON.
