Katie's joy in her life as a co-owner of a bakery and learning of her heritage as a witch are dampened slightly with the appearance of the dead man, especially when her home is invaded. Katie has to deal with two men fighting for her attention and her introduction to one's father. Steve and Declan are enemies and their animosity is heightened as they vie for Katie's hand.

In BEWITCHED, BOTHERED, AND BISCOTTI, Ms. Cates has introduced a secret society of Druids into the mix. As the members of the society are dropping dead, Katie's coven will be called on to save the day. A powerful witch is trying to raise a demon and they will be severely tested in their efforts to protect mankind.

The series opens an interesting world to the reader. That of a hedgewitch. Katie's discovery of her heritage leads to a separation with her mother but an increasing closeness with her aunt and uncle with whom she co-owns the bakery. As the series progresses, Katie will expand her knowledge and deepen her connection to Savannah.

The characters are interesting. Katie strives to embrace her heritage and all that it entails. Lucy and Ben want nothing more than for Katie to find happiness and fulfillment. The other members of the coven welcome Katie and even her nosy neighbor, Margie. The police don't want Katie's help but she is unable to turn away.

The mysteries are complex and intriguing. If you like a little magic, you will want to read this series.
