Dak, Sera, and Riq are our brave main characters who find themselves in the middle of medieval Paris, where thousands of warriors and their many warships are threatening the city. Dak is captured and things begin to go horribly wrong. Meanwhile, Sara and Riq fight to survive along side the Parisians. Will the kids be okay and who will win the war?
When I first heard about this series and how each book would be written by a different author, I have to admit that I had my doubts about how well that would actually work out. Often, I get so attached to the way certain authors write with their individual styles and humor, that it's hard to imagine someone else continuing that story. But I think for this series, it actually worked out pretty well.
Carrie Ryan's writing style is highly enjoyable and I am glad that she was chosen as the author of the second book in the Infinity Ring series.
I really loved this one and thought that the pacing was excellent and the action was mesmerizing. I'd recommend DIVIDE AND CONQUER for middle-school aged kids and up. DIVIDE AND CONQUER is a great read for fans of Percy Jackson or A Series of Unfortunate Events.
Book Summary
Scholastic's next multi-platform mega-event begins here!
Dak, Sera, and Riq might be in over their heads when they attempt to stop a Viking invasion!
Hundreds of ships carrying thousands of warriors are laying siege to medieval Paris. The Parisians are holding their own, but the stalemate can only last so long. And that's bad news -- especially since Dak has been captured, forced to work alongside the Vikings while Sera and Riq defend Paris from within. No matter which side wins, the kids lose!
