Mallory meets a little girl named Polly at the school where she works.  Polly has recently lost her mother and is having a hard time dealing with the loss. Polly is also Mallory's neighbor and some times Polly sneaks out of the house and goes over to Mallory's. Her Dad, Pete is not too happy about this.  He tries to keep Polly away as he has heard stories about Mallory and does not think Mallory would be a good influence on Polly!  He couldn't be more wrong as he soon finds out. Mallory's heart breaks for Polly and wants to do anything she can to help her.

Throughout CHRISTMAS ON MIMOSA LANE  Mallory keeps slipping back in to the past and her time on the road with her Momma. Some things that Polly says to her trigger her memories of losing her Momma and the life they had on the road. Little by little, Mallory lets Pete into her life as she reveals more and more of her past to him.  She tells him more about those six years on the road then she has ever told anyone before.  But it is not enough.  He wants to know the whole story so he can help her, but she struggles with this.  If she talks about it, it hurts too much and she believes if she ignores it and doesn't talk about it, it cant hurt her.  Your heart will break reading about the six years she spent homeless and like me, you will want to reach into the book and give Mallory a big hug.  

I really loved this book and it really opened my eyes to the plight of the homeless. CHRISTMAS ON MIMOSA LANE will tug on your heart strings and you will get instantly wrapped up in the characters lives. This was my first book by Anna DeStefano and I can't wait to read more of them.  I finished this book with a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes! The ending broke my heart and healed right back together. Keep the tissues handy!  If you want to read a wonderful but heart wrenching book then CHRISTMAS ON MIMOSA LANE is the book for you.
