Evangeline "Evie" Greene has it all; she's popular, is dating the hottest guy in school and has great friends. What people don't know about her is that she's also being plagued by delusions and nightmares about the world ending. When Evie's visions come true in an apocalyptic event called 'The Flash', Evie realizes she isn't crazy and has been having visions of the future. Now one of the few survivors left, Evie has no choice but to rely on Jackson Deveaux, her from the wrong side of the bayou classmate who has made his disdain for Evie clear.

Jack is everything Evie says she doesn't want in life. He's a criminal, crude and has a bad attitude about everything. Never ones to get along, Evie is surprised when Jack agrees to protect her as she leaves her home on a mission. Unsure about Jack and her feelings for him, Evie reluctantly leaves with him as they try to sort out Evie's visions. When it becomes clear to Evie that in order to survive she has to take part in an epic battle between good and evil which involves twenty-one other teens with only one emerging as the victor, things go bad from worse. Time is running out and Evie doesn't know who to trust. One wrong move and they could all be dead.

Kresley Cole is quickly turning into an author that can do no wrong. Already a must read author in the adult paranormal genre with her Immortals After Dark series, Cole is now conquering the young adult world and she's doing it with a huge bang. Cole's young adult debut, POISON PRINCESS, is a page-turning post-apocalyptic adventure which will have chills running down your spine even while you're begging for more. Jack is the embodiment of the age old bad boy that mother's warn their daughter's about, and his and Evie's relationship, both good and bad, burn up the pages. Cole has a sure-fire hit on her hands with POISON PRINCESS and with so many questions left unanswered, the wait for the sequel will be long and excruciating, but I imagine well worth while.

Book Summary

#1 New York Times bestselling author Kresley Cole introduces The Arcana Chronicles, post-apocalyptic tales filled with riveting action, the dark mysticism of Tarot cards, and breathtaking romance.

She could save the world—or destroy it.

Sixteen year old Evangeline “Evie” Greene leads a charmed life, until she begins experiencing horrifying hallucinations. When an apocalyptic event decimates her Louisiana hometown, Evie realizes her hallucinations were actually visions of the future—and they’re still happening. Fighting for her life and desperate for answers, she must turn to her wrong-side-of-the-bayou classmate: Jack Deveaux.

But she can’t do either alone.

With his mile-long rap sheet, wicked grin, and bad attitude, Jack is like no boy Evie has ever known. Even though he once scorned her and everything she represented, he agrees to protect Evie on her quest. She knows she can’t totally depend on Jack. If he ever cast that wicked grin her way, could she possibly resist him?

Who can Evie trust?

As Jack and Evie race to find the source of her visions, they meet others who have gotten the same call. An ancient prophesy is being played out, and Evie is not the only one with special powers. A group of twenty-two teens has been chosen to reenact the ultimate battle between good and evil. But it’s not always clear who is on which side….
