Alex Aaro, a tough and brilliant loner, finds himself coming up against the Ukrainian mafia family he has avoided for years in order to visit his dying Aunt Tonya, the one person who brought him hope for freedom and happiness when he was a child. He's determined to get to her before it's too late to say goodbye and doesn't hesitate to blow off Bruno Ranieri when Bruno calls him to make a quick detour to help Nina Christie. Aaro knows any favor associated with the McCloud's is likely to take time and involve bullets, mayhem, and destruction. But at heart Aaro is a good man and must come to Nina's aid when she's trapped by men intent on killing her.

Nina's day has gone from bad to worse. First, she is accosted by some strange woman who injects her with who knows what. At the hospital, strange things start happening to her, not the least of which are hallucinations that make her think she's losing her mind. She leaves the hospital to discover that the one man she thought might be able to help is dead. Now she's trapped in her own home by men who seem to want to find her by reading her mind then kill her. Her only hope is the long-distance is the help offered by Bruno, her best friend's husband. Help arrives in the form of Aaro and soon they find themselves on the run from a sadistic and dangerous crime syndicate and Aaro's family.

Fan's of the Shannon McKenna's McCloud series will be thrilled by ONE WRONG MOVE. We've met tough-guy Aaro before and I thoroughly enjoyed having him front and center and learning his backstory. As we have come to expect, the hero is tough yet tender with the woman he is coming to love, and the heroine is beautiful, smart, and can hold her own as the bullets fly. The danger is non-stop and the pursuers are relentless and suitable creepy.
