Marguerite de Montpierre is in Scotland awaiting her arranged marriage to Gilbert de Bouche, Earl of Cairnoss. Her father, Guy de Montpierre, the Duc D'Avignois, wishes a secure future for his youngest daughter.

While witnessing the cruelty the Earl dealt to the Scottish prisoners it was apparent he believed all Scots belonged in servitude. Hearing screams of the dying Scots brings Marguerite to the aid of one young man suffering and near death. Callum MacKinloch has been in captivity since childhood which has resulted in his inability to speak. Viewed as a threat by the Earl, Callum is transferred to another keep with Marguerite's faded blue ribbon clutched in his hand as his lifeline where he is rescued by his brothers.

Rescuing Marguerite and sequestering her with his own family, Callum's passion for her makes him refuse to relinquish her to marry another. Returning to her father's care to avoid a raid on Callum's family, another betrothed is found for Marguerite.

Peter Warrington, the Earl of Penrith, agrees to the marriage for the dowry and an heir as his true love lies in another direction that can never be. Fighting and hiding in the forest Callum and Marguerite continue to meet as often as possible until the time she is forced aboard a ship with her betrothed and away from Callum.

Striking a deal with her intended, Marguerite chooses to jump overboard, taking her chances at drowning and death, to attempt reuniting with her true love. Refusing to leave the forest until he can no longer see the ship, Callum's uneasy feeling helps him discover Marguerite half frozen, wet and unconscious along the shoreline, near death. The love and passion they share for each other will not be usurped by forced marriages to others, as both prefer death to the loss of each other. Calllum fears death may have the last say.

You will be completely enthralled in the reading of TEMPTED BY THE HIGHLAND WARRIOR which is full of excitement, passion, fiery and explicit sex as well as heartwarming devotion by two young people in love in a time where lives are dictated by others.

The lovers are strong and colorful characters full of antics designed to keep them together. The bloodshed and battles between the English and Scots take us to a time that is totally astounding and full of treachery. I truly like this Willingham's style of writing. She is creative, talented and weaves a tale that is easy for the reader to follow and enjoy. TEMPTED BY THE HIGHLAND WARRIOR is excellent read!
