"Can Celia Graves Survive the Zombie Apocalypse?"

Fans of Cat Adams's Blood Singer series will devour THE ISIS COLLAR in a day like I did. Celia Graves, bodyguard extraordinaire, is still fighting to balance her vampire and siren abilities, and now she has to try to save the world—again!

Responding to a "magical" bomb threat at an elementary school, Celia tries to warn the principal, but she won't listen. They got the children out, and there don't seem to be any residual effects from the bombs except a bruise on Celia's leg that won't heal and headaches that won't go away. The bruise turns out to be a zombie plague, and all the rescued kids will get it if something isn't done soon. It appears those bombs have impacted memories as well. Celia definitely has her work cut out and with the help of her boyfriends, Bruno Deluca and John Creed, she just might succeed. But then, John creed goes missing. And as if that isn't enough for poor Celia to deal with, her mother has escaped the Sirens' island and has gone AWOL as well.

While the title is THE ISIS COLLAR, this particular artifact doesn't appear until late in the story, but rest assured, it will turn up, and it definitely has meaning. Cat Adams fourth installment in the Blood Singer series zings along at a breakneck pace.

Filled with action, subtle romance and threats from all sides, it's a fabulous urban fantasy romp. Readers get reacquainted with Celia, Bruno, John and Donna; there are some new enemies in the mix. Adams introduce a new type of religion and a new--and not real thank goodness—disease as well. I do recommend starting this series at the beginning with Blood Song or you'll find out things before you may want to. Fans of Faith Hunter, Jim Butcher and other fast-paced and magic- filled fantasies will enjoy this one.

Book Summary

Celia Graves was once an ordinary human, but those days are long gone. Now she strives to maintain her sanity and her soul while juggling both vampire abilities and the powers of a Siren.

Warned of a magical “bomb” at a local elementary school, Celia forces an evacuation. Oddly, the explosion seems to have no effect, puzzling both Celia and the FBI. Two weeks later, a strangely persistent bruise on Celia’s leg turns out to be the first sign of a magical zombie plague.

Finding the source of the plague isn’t Celia’s only concern. Her alcoholic mother has broken out of prison on the Sirens’ island; her little sister’s ghost has possessed a young girl; and one of Celia’s boyfriends, a powerful mage, has disappeared.
