Arizona is grateful that she's been given another chance in life, but she's also ready to start being a woman in her own right. That may be what brings her to break into the home of Spencer Lark on her 21st birthday. She watches him sleep for a while until she decides to wake him up. It annoys her that he calls her "Little Girl." Maybe she wants to prove to him that she's not so little anymore. Maybe she just wants to spend her birthday with someone because Jackson is so involved with his pregnant fiancée and wedding plans that he seems to have forgotten her birthday. Spencer is a man still reeling from the pain caused by the death of his wife three years ago. He takes physical comfort when he chooses but none of the women mean anything to him. There's something about Arizona, though, that grips him from the inside out. It may be her undeniable natural beauty mixed with her innocent toughness. He knows a bit about her background and knows that she's experienced her own brand of pain. Now, here she is sitting in his bedroom, although she's not there to seduce him.
As they talk through the day, she tells him about a suspected human trafficking operation that she's going to try to sting. Immediately, he says no, but finally realizes that she's going to do it regardless, so he agrees to at least help her look into it. Things are going well until his neighbor, Marla, shows up offering herself to him before she realizes that Arizona is there. Arizona misunderstands the relationship at first but Spencer is quick to set her straight that Marla is simply someone with whom he's taken comfort on occasion. It's easy to see that Marla takes it much more seriously than it actually is. So when Arizona gets the chance, she asks Marla what's so special about Spencer. Marla's answer only leaves her more confused. Marla tells Arizona that if she has to ask that question, then she obviously hasn't slept with him.
Things continue to heat up between Arizona and Spencer in the midst of their plans to bring down the possible trafficking ring. Will Spencer give into his desire to love Arizona and will she let him?
A PERFECT STORM is a very heat filled book. The chemistry between Arizona and Spencer is undeniable and they're both trying so hard to fight it. But Arizona wants to know what it's like to be with a real man who wants and cares for her. Will she let Spencer be the one? You'll love the journey no matter what the ending!
Book Summary
He never saw her coming…
Spencer Lark already knows too many secrets about Arizona Storm, including the nightmare she survived and her resulting trust issues. But in order to expose a smuggling ring—and continue avenging his own tragic past—the bounty hunter reluctantly agrees to make Arizona a decoy. Yet nothing has equipped him for her hypnotic blend of fragility and bravery, or for the protective instincts she stirs in him.
Arizona wants to reclaim her life, which means acting as bait to lure the enemy into a trap. Sure it's dangerous, especially with a partner as distractingly appealing as Spencer. But as their plan—and their chemistry—shifts into high gear, Arizona may discover there's an even greater risk in surrendering her heart to a hero…
