If there is an author who I know will deliver it would be Marjorie M. Liu. I know that every time I sit down and open one of her books I am going to be taken on a wonderful ride. If you love your stories filled with romance, adventure and magic this author and series is a must read. Ever since I picked up the first book in this series I have been hooked. In this latest book we get to read Eddie's tale.

Eddie has been sent by the Dirk and Steele agency to find and protect Lyssa who is in danger from an evil witch. I have enjoyed Eddie since the first time I met him earlier in this series. It was nice to see him able to connect and share with Lyssa. She is a dragon shifter who like Eddie has come from a traumatic life and is still learning to control her powers. The romance that builds between the two is a beautiful read. Their past pain enables Lyssa and Eddie to connect and learn to trust one another. Each one does all that they can to protect the other and only through love can they find a way through it all and fight the evil that threatens them both.

While WITHIN THE FLAMES is number eleven in the Dirk and Steele series it is still an intense and enjoyable read. As with every story in this series Eddie and Lyssa's story was fresh and new. Not only do we get a love story but we also get the action and adventure that these books are known for. Cruor Venator is the villain in this book and he certainly is one that this reader feels is truly evil. The pain and torture that he and his minions deliver is pure evil.

I enjoyed watching Lyssa and Eddie find not only themselves but each other as well as finding a way to fight and win against the evil that threatens them all. This book was a wonderful read that kept me on the edge of my seat and turning the pages to see just what would happen next between Eddie and Lyssa. Making WITHIN THE FLAMES a book that should not be missed.
