It is off to the Hamptons for professional dog walker Ellie Engleman and her yorkipoo, Rudy, for a whole week. They will be the guest of Ellie's BFF's, Vivian McCready, sister, Arlene; Viv is taking her Jack Russell, Twink -- aka Mr. T. The occasion is Arlene's upcoming wedding to Dr. Martin Kent, MD. Arlene is an extremely wealthy widow and Martin has a thriving practice that keeps him busy day and night.

A large party is held that evening with an eclectic group of guests, which includes family members, Martin's colleagues, and the rich and famous locals. Ellie is introduced to cousins, aunts, prospective new dog walking customers who are visiting from NYC, Martin's Uncle Mickey, and another physician, Dr. B, that has a similar practice to Martin. Ellie wasn't introduced to a very good-looking man that she noticed standing by himself a few minutes ago, and then just vanished. Come to think of it, several guests are missing including Uncle Mickey and Dr. B. One of the waitstaff that Arlene had asked to find Martin runs into the room shouting in Spanish that the doctor has been murdered.

Vivian persuades Ellie to find the killer, knowing that her BFF has a knack for sleuthing. Ellie's boyfriend, NYPD homicide detective Sam Ryder, has more or less ordered her to keep her nose out of police business, but he isn't here and the local cops have arrested a young man and are not looking for another suspect. There are several things that have bothered Ellie about this case. What kind of physician had patients calling on him around the clock? Why is Arlene acting like a "bumble bee on speed"? Why would someone attack her, Ellie, and what were they looking for?

With the help of Rudy, Mr. T, and a fantastic African gray parrot named Myron, Ellie finds the answers she's looking for and the killer in this terrific tale. Judi McCoy is an awesome story teller and her characters are close personal friends of mine. Cozy mysteries don't get any better than the Dog Walker series.

Book Summary

Professional dog walker Ellie Engleman may have a psychic connection with dogs, but she was hoping she would not get roped into dealing with the wet-nosed guests at the Hamptons wedding she's been invited to. But soon she's chasing her tail over trouble of the two-legged variety. Before the bride can say, "I do," someone is murdered. And Ellie and her yorkiepoo Rudy must put their noses to the ground to sniff out the killer.
