Matt and Cat have had only a purely physical relationship, and they both seemed satisfied with that arrangement until strange things start to happen around Matt's ranch. Wolves start acting aggressively, and Matt is trying to deal with the overwhelmingly animalistic nature that keeps being expressed whenever Cat is around. The work brings in some interesting Native American lore, and the passionate scenes are, in some cases, sizzling, but the subthemes of the importance of communication and that one can never know what's in the mind of another, not a lover, a parent, a child, or an animal, are more interesting. I'll admit, I found Cat slightly annoying because she keeps giving in to her physicality in some highly dangerous situations with Matt rather than pressing him for answers or attempting to actually stay away from him for their own sanity, but the plot action works within the world of the work.
