And what a kiss it is! Lucy never had such feelings stir within her. This stranger drives the horses back to where the stranded driver and passengers are and disappears just as quickly as he appeared. Lucy knows nothing about him, but that kiss haunts her. She sets out to find him again. Rumor has it there is a "wild man" roaming the woods and Lucy wants to prove he is anything but "wild." If she can verify this, it could be her big chance to get one of her photographs in the local newspaper and prove to people she is serious about her profession.
David Wolf has returned to Rocky Creek in search of answers about his past. He was left on the steps of the local mission as a baby and raised there until he was 10. He decided to run away and took the only possession her owned, a treasured gold box. That same night, David was found by four local youths who mocked and taunted him for being a half-breed. They stole his box and tied him in a boat that slipped away from them and went down the river.
Lucy's search for David gets him shot and lands him in jail and Lucy is in another mess of trouble. You'll be amused by some of her hysterical antics, but encouraged by how she uses her camera to illuminate the secrets that surround her. Will David find his answers or be chained to his childhood forever? Can there a better future in store for him?
A VISION OF LUCY is a story about overcoming prejudice and the resulting injustice is causes. It's a lesson in learning to accept someone for whom they are, not for their gender, skin color or who we expect them to be. This 1800s inspirational historical novel explores breaking society's barriers and keeping our mind, eyes and ears open to have a vision of God's plan for our lives. Margaret Brownley has penned another winner with this last book in her Rocky Creek Romance series. A delightful extra: you'll enjoy the wit and wisdom of Miss Gertrude Hasslebrink regarding photography at the beginning of each chapter.
Book Summary
Trouble may follow Lucy wherever she goes, but with the help of God and the rugged, reclusive David Wolf, she'll never face adversity alone.
Lucy Bradshaw dreams of working as a photographer at the Rocky Creek newspaper. If she can earn money making photographs, then maybe her father will see that what she does is worthy, more than just a distraction. And her deepest hope is that he'll see her as an artist, the way he thought of her deceased mother, a painter. But trouble follows Lucy on every photo shoot: a mess of petticoats and ribbons, an accidental shooting, even a fire.
When Lucy meets David Wolf, a quiet, rustic man who lives on the outskirts of town, she thinks she can catch the attention of the town with his photograph. She doesn't count on her feelings stirring whenever she's near him.
Two things happen next that forever change the course of her life: Lucy meets someone who sees her as no one else has-as the compassionate, creative young woman that God made in His image. And Lucy helps David uncover a secret that forces him to change his perspective on an event that left him deeply-scarred.
God's arms are around this unlikely couple as they discover the truth about long-held assumptions and the importance of forgiveness.
