Dr. Deanna Vasquez spends much of her time teaching children at a private school. Her breaks are spent exploring the world while pursing her archeological work. Her expertise in Mesoamerican history isn't surprising given that both of her parents are renowned scholars in this area. Raised by her father, Deanna hasn't seen her mother in years; not since she left to search for Montezuma's tomb and didn't come back. Deanna has little interest in re-connecting with her mother until CIA agent Bill Santana seeks Deanna's help after her mother is abducted by terrorists. Deanna finds she must help in any way she can. Suddenly, Deanna finds herself on a plane to Mexico on a quest to find her mother and bring down a terrorist organization. In the process, Bill and Deanna find that they have a mutual attraction they can't deny.
