High-powered career woman, Austin Lanier, has inherited her grandmother's watermelon farm located in the one place Austin's mother can't stand. The plan is to spend two weeks cleaning out the farm house, square away any loose ends, sell the farm, and then head back to Tulsa. Austin is taken by surprise with the successful farm her grandmother has built over the years and is intrigued with the process of it all. It doesn't help matters much when Austin finds out that the man she has been talking to every Thursday since her grandmothers death is not a 70-year-old gray haired old man that walks with a cane but rather a sexy, rough around the edges cowboy named Rye O'Donnell. Knowing her time is short, Austin has no intention of acting on the instant attraction between her and Rye. Tulsa is home, regardless of the responsibility of running a farm even as Austin finds out exactly what her grandmother can do with the watermelons she harvests.

Over the years, Granny Lanier has told Rye O'Donnell about her granddaughter Austin. She showed him picture after picture as Austin grew up but nothing compares to the electrifying jolt to his heart as he meets Austin in person. Rye made a promise years ago that he will never let another woman break down the defenses around his heart but Austin is quickly and unknowingly finding a way under his skin without even trying. Usually, Rye is a pretty intelligent guy with his own land and ideas to make his own ranch work but being around Austin turns him into a bumbling idiot. The more time he spends with her the more he is sure that she belongs on her grandmother's farm. Unfortunately, Austin makes it perfectly clear she doesn't plan on sticking around but if Rye can get Austin involved with everything Granny then, just maybe, Austin will at least think about giving him and the farm a chance.

LOVE DRUNK COWBOY is the first book in Carolyn Brown's new series, Spikes and Spurs, which is right on par with everything else she writes. I was unable to put the book down. The characters are endearing and easy to get attached too. Great read, and a great beginning.
