Officer Noah Young is biding his time in the Gang Division until he can apply for the Homicide Division in Chula Vista. Until then, scoping out kids that look suspicious will have to work. Noah immediately takes action when his sees two kids climbing a fence looking guilty; with a hunch that something is wrong, Noah asks questions that lead to a young woman that has clearly been raped and murdered. The woman was a waitress at a popular local night club which is where the investigation starts, putting April directly in Noah's path. The moment Noah see April, he becomes fascinated with her and unable to take his eyes off her. Noah is aware of the policy of dating interviewees but even after finding out she has ties to the local gangs, Noah is sure he can solve a murder and keep the girl.
