Having just moved from Atlanta, Lacy Green is plodding through her first Michigan snow storm when she's rear-ended and sent sliding down an icy embankment.

Mayor Drake Randolph is horrified when his driver hits a car, causing it to slide into the ditch. Without stopping to think, Drake runs to the aid of the injured motorist. What he finds is a beautiful woman he can't seem to get out of his mind.

Lacy's position as assistant director of Detroit's Environmental Protection Department's enforcement division places her just two floors below the Mayor, and the proximity is making her tingle. When an investigation into illegal dumping has them working closer together, sparks fly.

For a romantic suspense, I found BLACK LACE very hard to get into with a slow-moving plot. And I never could identify with the characters or their relationship.

Book Summary

Over her head...

The last thing Lacy Green needs is trouble -- and handsome Mayor Drake Randolph has "danger" written all over him... especially when "His Fineness" accidentally runs her off the road. Despite Drake's sensuous charm, irresistible magnetism, and unwavering determination to make amends, she's thinking it might be smart to play it safe and keep her distance... if only his lips weren't so inviting.

But trouble comes from a different source when Lacy, as the head of Detroit's Environmental Protection Department, launches an investigation into the activities of a ruthless developer. Suddenly, Lacy becomes a target, dragged down into a swamp of greed, corruption... and murder. Now Drake Randolph might be the only one in Motown who can keep Lacy alive...
