With their father gone to escort the new heir to Hunswick Castle, Bronwyn de Breton is left to watch over her younger sisters Lily and Edythe and to keep the home fires burning. But tragedy strikes twice-fold when news of her father's death comes along with the arrival of Lord Ranulf de Gunnar, the new owner of the castle. And the news gets worse when Ranulf informs the grieving sisters that King Henry has decreed that he is to make Edythe his bride. Reeling from the news, the sisters band together and decide, as Edythe is too young and too tender for marriage, that Bronwyn should pretend that she is Edythe and provide a distraction for the fearsome Lord until the girls can plan their escape. However, as she gets to know the scarred but still handsome Ranulf, Bronwyn finds herself falling in love with this rough man who seems intent on hiding his warm and compassionate side. But will her love be returned when Ranulf discovers her deception?

Set during the Yuletide season in medieval times in Normandy England, this story is filled with tasty tidbits about customs and traditions of that era, giving the tale a delightful atmosphere and adding just enough Yuletide magic to favor the tale. While background is great, it is the chemistry between the unlikely couple that is the key to this romance and Ranulf and Browyn have it in abundance. Sparks flew whenever these characters were in the same room, which made for a healthy dose of sensual sexual tension throughout the book. That is part of the charm that sets this couple apart from countless others is the quiet, sweet moments between them. Those rare times where they let down their guards and open up to each other are some of the loveliest of the entire story.

Book Summary

Her Only Hope For The Season

With their father gone this Christmastide, Bronwyn de Breton and her two younger sisters are utterly vulnerable at unprotected Hunswick Castle. And their troubles are compounded when a fearsome knight arrives on the king's orders to take Hunswick as his own--and the youngest de Breton daughter as his wife.

Is A Man She's Never Met

Bronwyn would never let her little sister be forced to marry a man as rough and wild as the new lord is whispered to be. Yet someone must form an alliance with him, or all of Hunswick will be at risk. So she steps forward, pretending to be her own sister.

And A Love She Never Expected

But the new lord is not so easily fooled. He knows Bronwyn is not the woman he has promised to marry. And yet, no matter how duty-bound he may be, there is no resisting the golden-haired beauty who so fearlessly gives herself to him. . .and awakens a passion unlike any he's ever known. . .
