There is no one to care for Kenisha's children because her mother is an alcoholic, her brother is a crack addict, and her sister already has four children, no husband and no job. Her family puts true meaning to the word dysfunctional. And there are no daddies for her three children; one is dead, one is in prison and the third is a crack addict. Could life get any worse?
When Kenisha's son is not picked up from school one day, the principal, Deidre Morris, takes the child home and waits for his mom to get her message and come pick him up. Deidre questions Kenisha about taking good care of her son and Kenisha unloads on Deidre with all of her problems.
Deidre just doesn't understand the fairness in life either when Kenisha has three children she can't take care of and Deidre has been married for seven years, yearning for a child she can't seem to produce. As their worlds collide, Deidre's heart is touched, and she decides to share Kenisha's journey with her, wherever that journey may lead. She brings Kenisha and her children into her home when Kenisha can no longer care for herself, and tries to minister to her both physically and spiritually. Deidre prays for healing, but also prepares for reality.
Through this journey, both learn that faith is the answer, whether we live to see the rewards of our faith or not. They also learn that no one should waste a minute of their life with bitterness or unfulfilled dreams, because we just don't know how long we have here on this earth.
This is a very touching story, filled with sadness and despair, yet also filled with hope and faith. See how God answers each woman's prayers in His own way and time. You'll laugh and cry with these two women as they learn how to live and forgive with grace and dignity. Learning that lesson for some is a "long time coming."
