The detailed setting of Eugene (Oregon) brings the murder into sharp focus, adding the edge of reality to Jackson's search for the solution. Jackson's age and health issues add to his vulnerability, letting us peer into what it means to be a tough man with a kind heart doing the best he can to protect those he loves, and the community he serves.
