Annie O'Sullivan leads a normal life. She is 32 years old, owns a home, has a dog and works as a realtor on Vancouver Island. This normalcy ceases the moment a man arrives at one of her open houses. David has blue eyes, blond hair and wears a nice shirt and pressed khaki pants. Pretty normal. But he's not; far from it. He kidnaps Annie at gunpoint, drugs her and takes her to a cabin on a mountain where she wakes to discover she is his prisoner, and they are going to live together for the rest of their lives.

David, otherwise known as The Freak, starts a series of rituals and rules Annie must follow to avoid being beaten. After surviving a life of hell for a year, Annie is able to escape and make her way back to her hometown. However, there is no way she can get back to her old life; she is forever changed. And there are so many unanswered questions as to why she was kidnapped and the true identity of her kidnapper. Will she ever learn the truth?

STILL MISSING is Chevy Stevens debut novel. Published in hardback, it is worth every penny you will pay to own it. The story is packed with twists and shocking events that will make you gasp and leave you breathless. I didn't want to give away anything. All I can say is Ms. Stevens is a hell of a writer and I can't wait for more stories from this author.

Book Summary

On the day she was abducted, Annie O'Sullivan, a 32-year-old realtor, had three goals: sell a house, forget about a recent argument with her mother, and be on time for dinner with her ever-patient boyfriend. The open house is slow, but when her last visitor pulls up in a van as she's about to leave, Annie thinks it just might be her lucky day after all.

Interwoven with the story of the year Annie spent as the captive of a psychopath in a remote mountain cabin, which unfolds through sessions with her psychiatrist, is a second narrative recounting events following her escape; her struggle to piece her shattered life back together and the ongoing police investigation into the identity of her captor. The truth doesn't always set you free.

Still Missing is that rare debut find; a shocking, visceral, brutal and beautifully crafted novel.
