Olivia wants some time away from all the chaos in her life. Robby has been forced to take time off. Both end up at the remote Greek Isle of Patmos. It seems that Olivia who can read people cannot read Robby at all. Which could be a blessing in disguise. Robby must decide what is the most important thing to him: revenge or love. The mutual attraction between the two happens right from the beginning but each comes with their own baggage. I enjoyed getting to know more about Robby who we have seen in earlier books. Robby is a great man who loves with all his heart and will fight for those he cares for. Olivia is a strong woman who can stand on her own. The bond that these two form was a great read. As Olivia and Robby try to figure out their feelings they must also deal with a serial killer. I did not like the way Olivia dismisses Robby when they are separated but did enjoy it when she finally finds out what he is hiding and comes to terms with it. I loved the banter in this book as well as seeing other characters from past books. Many of the secondary characters endear themselves to the reader and I have to say Olivia's Grandmother was a gas as was Carlos. This book was a bit darker and not as comical as the others in this series but it was just as enjoyable. This was another good read from Kerreleyn Sparks. THE VAMPIRE AND THE VIRGIN is number 8 in this continuing series. Filled with not only action and suspense but romance as well this book was a well-written fast paced story. With characters full of humor and depth this is a book that should not be missed.

Book Summary

New York Times bestselling author Kerrelyn Sparks continues her popular "Love at Stake" series with battle-weary vampire Robby MacKay who finds love while on vacation.

Having been tortured in the last battle with the Malcontents -- a faction of evil vampires determined to take over the world - Robby MacKay is obsessed with avenging himself by killing the leader of the Malcontents. That exactly why his bosses have sent him on an enforced vacation!

Calm and cool nights on a tropical island are exactly what his bosses ordered...except there's nothing cool about Olivia Sotiris. Also on vacation in the Grecian islands, the sexy FBI psychologist is desperately seeking respite from her last case: a deranged serial killer who targeted young, attractive women. A killer who has made Olivia his latest obsession, taunting her with mysterious gifts even from a maximum security prison.

Spending time with Robby banishes Olivia's nightmares where nothing else can. But their vacation comes to an abrupt end when a package arrives from Olivia's dangerous admirer. Determined to put an end to the case and the killer once and for all, Olivia returns to investigate a crime scene that may be related to her stalker. Instead, she finds a gruesome supernatural scene. Olivia and Robby are horrified to learn that their worst enemies have teamed up. Caught in a deadly trap, will Robby be too late to save the one woman he cannot live without?
